The Fire Awareness Awards recognise a wide variety of projects that reduce the number of fires, or the effects of fire in Victoria. Projects can cover any fire type, including building fires and bushfires. Fire projects with the following objectives can apply:

  • fire preparedness
  • fire safety
  • fire awareness
  • fire prevention
  • fire response
  • recovery after fire

The fire project judged to be most outstanding out of all entries will receive the RACV Insurance Award for Excellence. 

All award trophies and certificates will be presented during the awards presentation event later on in the year

2013 Categories

Awards are presented to the best project in each of the following categories

Preparedness Award *

Recognises and highlights positive actions taken to improve bushfire/fire preparedness within Victorian towns or municipalities.

Recovery Award *

A fire project that helps people or the environment recover from fire (can be a short or long term project).

Multicultural Award *

A fire project supporting the needs of a multicultural community including migrants, refugees, and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Youth Award *

A fire project that supports the needs of children and youths.

Aged and disability Award *

A fire project that supports or promotes the needs of the aged or disabled.

Education Award *

An innovative project by a primary, secondary, TAFE, university or other tertiary education facility, that educates students or the wider community about fire. (May also include students involved in a community fire project)

Fire Services Awards

For an innovative fire project that encourages best practice by fire service staff, brigade members, station, district depot or agency staff.

Media and Communications Award

For innovative fire related media or communications projects delivered through journalism, social media, publications, marketing, public relations, advertising or events, or by individual roles (such as broadcaster, writer, journalist, blogger, photo journalist, marketer) that have increased awareness of fire through responsible reporting and promotion.

Industry/Service Awards

An Industry or Service organisation that has produced a fire service, workplace strategy or innovation.

Building/Construction Award

An innovative industrial design or construction fire project.

Product Design Award

An innovative product or service that contributes to any of the many facets of fire safety and firefighting operations.

New & Emerging Information Technologies

For the innovative use of information technologies developed to improve or enhance any of the many facets of fire safety or firefighting operations.

* Non-Profit, Community or Government ran projects can apply for these awards.

I am not sure which category to enter.
If you are uncertain as to which category to enter please give the awards team a call on (03) 9262 8266 and we will advise.

Can I enter more than one?.
No- You can only enter for one award. However if the awards team or judges feel you have entered into the incorrect category OR your project would be more suited under another, we will notify you to advise.

Can I save my application and come back to it?
Yes you can, only choose SUBMIT when your application is complete.
