Terms and Conditions

Conditions of entry – General

  • Entry is open to any individual, group or organisation that has completed a fire project in Victoria in the last two years or is seeking funding for a fire project in Victoria.
  • An individual or organisation outside of Victoria can apply as long as the project was, or will be, delivered in Victoria.
  • Projects must meet the standards and accepted procedures of all Victorian fire agencies. If in doubt, please discuss with a suitable person at the relevant fire agency before you enter your project.
  • Entries must be received by 4pm on Tuesday 2 October 2012. Late applications cannot be accepted.
  • Entries, attachments and any other supporting materials cannot be returned.
  • Applicants may be required to complete a phone interview to discuss their application.
  • Decisions reached by the judging panel are final. No correspondence will be entered in to.
  • Award and grant recipients will be announced at the Fire Awareness Awards presentation night on Monday 3 December 2012.
  • Information submitted in the application process may be used for promotional purposes.
  • Project names are subject to alteration for the sake of simplicity and clarity. Any altered project names will be subject to approval from the entrant.
  • Award and grant recipients may be required to participate in media and publicity for the Fire Awareness Awards.

Conditions of entry – Awards

  • Projects must have been completed, and carried out, between 29 September 2010 and 28 September 2012.
  • Completed projects can be entered into one or more award categories.
  • Judges may move projects between categories, where appropriate.
  • A project is ineligible if it has previously been entered for a Fire Awareness Award, unless the project has been significantly changed, or developed further.
  • A completed project that was previously funded by a grant through this awards program can be entered for an award.

Conditions of entry – Special Incentive Grant

  • Grants are available for new projects, or to further an existing fire project. Completed projects are not eligible to apply for a grant.
  • Grant funds are not designed to provide ongoing financial support for a project.
  • Grant recipients must be able to complete their project, and expend grant monies, on or before Friday, 27 September 2013.
  • Proposed projects can be entered into one or both grant categories.
  • CFA volunteers are eligible for grants.
  • Employees of MFB, CFA and DSE are not eligible to apply for grants.
  • All grant applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.
  • If the grant is awarded to an individual or unincorporated group it will be necessary for a nominated individual to be responsible for compliance with funding obligations and to be party to the funding agreement.

Conditions of entry – RACV Insurance Fire Innovation Grant

  • Grants are available for new projects, or to further an existing fire project. Completed projects are not eligible for a grant.
  • Grant funds are not designed to provide ongoing financial support for a project.
  • Grant recipients must be able to complete their project, and expend grant monies, on or before Friday, 27 September 2013.
  • CFA volunteers are eligible for grants.
  • Employees of RACV Insurance, MFB, CFA or DSE are not eligible to apply for grants.
  • Proposed projects can be entered into one or both grant categories.
  • All grant applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.
  • The recipient of the RACV Insurance Fire Innovation Grant must sign a legally binding written agreement with RACV Insurance.
  • If the grant is awarded to an individual or unincorporated group it will be necessary for a nominated individual to be responsible for compliance with funding obligations and to be party to the funding agreement.
  • Grant funding will not be provided for projects with high salary components, capital works, research, activities primarily concerning the printing of publications, domestic or international travel and/or accommodation costs, or projects that are being undertaken as part of an accredited course of study.
  • The grant recipients are required to complete and submit a progress report on the achievements of the initiative by Friday 8 March to RACV Insurance and at other times as required by RACV Insurance.
  • At the completion of the project, any unspent funds must be returned.
  • A final evaluation report showing evidence of the project achievements and provision for the refund of any unspent funding must be provided to RACV Insurance by Friday, 27 September 2013. This must include appropriate tax invoices and evidence of the proper use of funding received.
